HOW WE STARTED

We have always loved candles. They elevate the warm and cozy atmosphere we have created in our home. Their fragrances provide a sense of relaxation and ease. We have burned candles for as long as we can remember and even more so since staying home during the Covid-19 pandemic. After burning many candles, a curiosity sparked inside of us of how they are made and if we can make them ourselves. After much research and debate, Swell Scents Co. was born.

We quickly learned that most candles on the market are made of paraffin wax. We wanted to make a non-toxic candle that could be safe to burn in our home. We wanted to make a non-toxic candle that can be just as good as paraffin candles, if not better. After a lot of investigating, we created the Swell Scent Co. candles. They are all-natural and longer lasting and we are confident that you will love them.

NATURAL

Swell Scents Co. candles are made with soy and coconut wax. They are grown by local farmers and are natural and renewable. Other paraffin candles are made from petroleum, a nonrenewable source that contains carcinogenic substances, which may be released into the air while burning. Soy and coconut wax is also biodegradable, making it an investment that benefits the environment.

LONGER LASTING

Soy and coconut wax candles typically last 30%-40% longer than paraffin candles of the same size. The longevity is due to the slower burning time and cooler burning temperature of the wax. Soy and coconut wax candles may be more costly upfront, but the longer-lasting burn means buying new candles less often.

CLEANER BURNING

Soy and coconut wax candles are non-toxic, so they do not release toxins into the air while burning. They also burn cleaner compared to paraffin candles. Paraffin candles often create a significant amount of black soot which collects in the jar, as well as your walls and other surfaces of your home. Soy and coconut wax candles may accumulate some black soot, but significantly less than paraffin candles.
